Greenfield Sites are more attractive

The congested, central locations of many brownfield sites offered for re-development in Britain's cities are unattractive and expensive to reclaim when compared to the rural-urban fringe areas.

This is the 'Mars Effect' - where people want to work, rest and play in a leafy, greenbelt location.

The top left photograph show the site map of the Blythe Valley Business Park (work). This site, adjacent to the the south Birmingham motorway network is attractive to companies due to its accessibility.

Top right shows Dickens Heath (rest), new housing development on the rural-urban fringe, providing a less congested and polluted (air) environment.

Left - shows a south Birmingham conurbation golf course (play) for recreation.
